About Kate
Kate is Head of Impact and Operating Principal at Blackbird, leading the fund's work across impact and ESG. She spends the bulk of her time working directly with the portfolio on projects to help them maximise the positive impact their companies can have on the world.

Prior to joining Blackbird, she was the founder and CEO (now Chair) of Blackbird-backed company Applied, which uses behavioural science to remove bias from hiring.
Before that she worked as a behavioural economist and advisor at the Behavioural Insights Team, UN, and Australian and UK governments. She has a Master in Public Policy from Harvard University and an Honours degree in Economic and Social Sciences from Sydney University.
Kate believes that there are lots of small decisions we make every day, often unconsciously, that could be made just a tiny bit better. And the cumulative good that can come from improving them amounts to a lot.
