Kieran Pender is a senior lawyer at the Human Rights Law Centre, where he works to protect and empower Australian whistleblowers through the Whistleblower Project. The Project is an Australia-first initiative to provide pro bono legal representation to whistleblowers, together with advocacy and law reform work to strengthen protections for people who speak up about wrongdoing.
Kieran is a globally-recognised expert on whistleblower protections. He previously worked at the International Bar Association in London, leading its work on whistleblowing law best-practice, and has also worked on whistleblower protections in central and eastern Europe with the CEELI Institute in Prague. Kieran has previously been the ACT Law Society's Young Lawyer of the Year and Lawyer’s Weekly 30 under 30 Pro Bono/Community Lawyer of the Year.
Kieran is also an honorary lecturer at the ANU College of Law, where he teaches constitutional law, and an award-winning journalist, contributing to The Guardian and The Saturday Paper.
